Ada is a wonderful place to live, work and play. The past several years have seen an incredible change in the village with the addition of new businesses, the rerouting of streets and the improvement of green space. Now, a group of community leaders is planning to further enhance our community through two key additions:

  • The construction of a community center and library to be built along the south side of Headley Street.
  • The development of a community park along the Thornapple River.

When completed, these amenities will greatly enhance our downtown, attract more visitors to the village and provide new venues for family gatherings, concerts and social activities right in the heart of our community.

Completing this vision will require a significant cooperative effort. The Ada Township and Downtown Development Authority has invested $4.2 million in this plan. To meet the campaign goal, we are seeking an additional $7 million in community charitable gifts.

Providing first-rate venues in the heart of the downtown is a top priority for our leadership team and an important accomplishment for our region. Success will take the support of many. We hope you'll join us in supporting the campaign!

A Place For Community Gathering and Lifetime Learning

Community leadership envisions a two-story community center including a library on the land located south of Headley Street in front of The Community Church.

This space would provide opportunities for:

  • Family gatherings and reunions
  • Community events
  • Concerts, plays and musical performances
  • Movie nights
  • Library activities and programs
  • Business and professional meetings and presentations
  • Community social clubs
  • Summer activities for children and teens
  • Farmers Market

The community center would also provide space for a new Ada library. The library would be managed by the Kent District Library system and may feature the following:

  • Dedicated space for children's literacy programs and story time
  • Innovative teen areas for collaborative learning
  • A multimedia center featuring the most recent digital tools including iPads, wi-fi, GoPro cameras, online databases and emerging technologies
  • Comprehensive library programing for all ages
  • Private meeting rooms
  • Coffee bar
  • Fireplace seating for comfortable reading
  • Kayak, bike and fishing pole loans
  • Resources for people of all ages and incomes
  • Direct access to the entire KDL collection
